Tony's update - 6 December
I trust we’ve all been taking advantage of this lovely sunshine this week to brush up on our less muddy skills. Our course has been drying out nicely so hopefully this coming bout of dampness doesn’t get us all squidgy again . This weekend we have round 2 of the winter challenge and Sunday the penultimate FF of the winter season. Yes sir, there are various tussles to sort out the final FFOOM order, so Cris please stay at home so I get chance to catch up….Linda and Uber you need to catch Laser into 3rd!
Sunday’s FF is at the usual time, meet latest 9.15 for the super slick draw, strictly in the ballroom. Sign up on hdid if you would be so kind. If you don’t have access yet drop me an email so I can add you in to the cake mix…..
Last weekend was tough. At least for me. GnT made me drink far too much vinos collapsos on Friday, the effects of which lasted all weekend in terms of my inability to play golf . This made way for Curve ball and the Pro to dance a merry dance and beat the pants off one and all….with 34 points! To be fair I didn’t hear of a better score in any other group, so hats off chaps for mastering the soggy beast . FFOOM points shared, but el capo won the sought after fiver with a super duper back 3!!
3rd was also a joint affair with Craig and GnT shooting 33 points. Well done lads particularly to Craig who had a ‘phone-rage’ incident to overcome and had to refocus his talents ! Hopefully all is now well and the phone in question has found a more stable signal …. We’ll cover the subject of the fiver over a nice Chianti….
So, the time has come to plan for the end of season lunch! As mentioned last time Saturday 21st is the big day. Usual format, golf (2-tee start), few drinkies and a Xmas lunch, great value and fun before the seriousness of our religious homage begins . I will set up the hdid sign up sheet shortly (along with the remaining games this year), so please sign up ASAP so I can confirm numbers (for the “FF Xmas Punch”) to the big cheese and the turkey whisperer. All are welcome, if you can’t do hdid email me….
Keep yer shoes dry tomorrow, see y’all at the weekend.
The Friendly Fiver is Pyrford Golf Club’s weekend roll-up event and takes place whenever there is no kind of club competition or match taking place. It is a Stableford event for all 7-day members, male or female. Players book their attendance via Howdidido.com and then gather in the clubhouse for the draw for start times at 9.15am. Play is then in either three or fourballs based on the number of competitors.
The entry fee is £5 collected by one person in each group at the end of the round. This covers your first drink in the clubhouse and a bowl of chips for each group. The winner will receive a small monetary prize. The top five finishers in each roll-up collect points towards an Order of Merit with half-yearly BBQ and Christmas lunches to celebrate the winners. The Friendly Fiver is admirably run by Tony Brunt and his weekly updates will appear on this section of the website.
